BREAKTHROUGH

Intervention

Focused, honest, deliberate work - move from circling and exposed vulnerability to having shared clarity and credible authority to act.

When capable teams circle the same issue for weeks or months, the problem usually isn't commitment.

It's that the real challenges haven't been seen or named yet.

A focused intervention for public sector teams who need to
see their challenge more clearly and restore decision momentum.

This is for moments when confidence needs to be stabilised and when the quality of conversation matters as much as the next step.

What's really happening
when teams get stuck?

In complex environments, progress often stalls not from lack of effort, but from lack of shared clarity about what's actually shaping the situation.

Teams push harder. More meetings. More activity. More effort.

But without a clearer view of the underlying patterns - the competing commitments, systemic constraints, and misalignments between intent and system design - effort increases while confidence erodes.

A short, well-held intervention can help teams step back, see what's really shaping outcomes, and move forward with credible authority rather than reactive urgency.

Who’s this for?

Public sector problem owners and their teams who are accountable for delivery on complex issues.

You're responsible for a policy, project, or strategic challenge.
Progress has slowed or stalled.
Conversations are circling.
Alignment is fragile.
Executive scrutiny is increasing.

You know something needs to shift - you're just not yet clear what that shift is, or how to make it.

This intervention is designed for you if:

  • Your team has spent weeks or months circling a complex issue with little momentum

  • Decisions keep stalling or looping, and progress is hard to demonstrate

  • Alignment is unclear or fragile across the team

  • Executive frustration is rising while a clear way forward remains opaque

  • You've been given new policy or strategic direction but are struggling to translate it into action

  • You're extremely busy, but your impact is being questioned

This is not the right intervention if:

  • Team culture is dysfunctional or toxic - a deeper team intervention would be more appropriate

  • You expect a single session to solve a deeply embedded systemic problem (this restores momentum, but it doesn't solve everything)

  • You're unwilling to surface real tensions, trade-offs, or constraints

What
Breakthrough Intervention
does

This intervention helps teams shift their view of the challenge and what's keeping it stuck:

See the challenge and its underlying patterns more clearly

Understand what systemic factors are shaping current outcomes

Surface and clarify the tensions and competing commitments keeping the issue stuck

Align on what matters most right now

Restore the quality of conversation and decision-making

Agree on a credible path forward

It helps teams move from circling and exposed vulnerability to having shared clarity and credible authority to act.

What’s included —
how we work

Director pre-brief

A focused conversation with the Director or problem owner to understand context, pressure points and where confidence or credibility may be at risk. This ensures the session engages the real issues.

Number '1'

Breakthrough Intervention session

A 2.5 hour facilitated session with a leadership team of up to six people. Delivered online or face-to-face in metro Sydney.

The session is designed specifically for your situation and typically includes:

  • Surfacing underlying patterns and constraints shaping the issue

  • Clarifying tensions and competing commitments that are keeping the challenge stuck

  • Bringing a broader, more systemic perspective to what's happening

  • Developing clearer collective understanding of how the system is shaping outcomes

  • Aligning on a practical, credible path forward

The focus is clarity, alignment, and restoring decision momentum - not comprehensive problem-solving.

Number 2

Director follow-up support

Unlimited follow-up support (email, phone, meetings) with the Director or team leader for three weeks following the session.

This helps translate clarity into action, maintain momentum, and reduce the risk of slipping back into old patterns under pressure.

Number 3

Summary Report

A summary report synthesising the insights and discussion, with clear actions and next steps.

What’s included?

  • Director pre-brief and session briefing

  • Bespoke session design

  • 2.5 hour Breakthrough Intervention intervention

  • Three weeks of Director follow-up support

  • A summary report of insights, decisions, and next steps
